Please, Don’t Ghost Your Recruiter

Ghosting isn’t cool under any circumstances. So, what make people think it’s okay to ghost a recruiter? Frankly, it’s unprofessional and burns bridges that could be useful to you in the future.

I know that you’re busy, and I know that I’m most likely not the only recruiter you’re working with. That’s fine. I understand you’re looking for a job. You don’t have to conceal the fact that you’re working with other recruiters who are sending you on other interviews.

If I reach out to you with interviews for jobs you’re interested in, don’t ghost me. Just tell me you’re going on other interviews! Believe me, I won’t take offense and I’ll continue to work with you. An open line of communication will help me land you interviews at the right time. I’m even willing to fast-track you with one of my clients to ensure you have options when it comes down to the end of the line. And of course, we can always get back in touch if your plans fall through.

Also, we take great notes, and we remember who’s ghosted us and left us hanging. So, to put it simply: don’t do it. Keep it professional, and you’ll always have recruiters to work with.
